Front of House - Wine Director & Shift Lead

The Acorn is looking for an experienced Wine Director / Sommelier + Shift Lead to join our front of house team.
This is a hands-on floor role for someone who loves service, leads naturally in the room, and is excited to take ownership of a focused, growing wine program at one of Vancouver’s most respected vegetable-forward restaurants.

Our wine list follows the philosophy or the restaurant - celebrating growers, farming practices, and wines that speak clearly of place, with a focus on organic, biodynamic, and low-intervention producers that still show balance, typicity, and deliciousness.

Our wine program was recently awarded Best Wine Program for Discovery by the Vancouver International Wine Festival, and this is a great opportunity to step into a small, thoughtful list with momentum.

This role includes serving a small section as a manager on duty, guiding the guest experience, ordering, inventory, list writing, pricing, staff training, and ongoing wine education. Collaboration is essential. We’re looking for someone who teaches with openness, shares knowledge generously, and builds curiosity and confidence across the team so the whole room can speak to the program, whether or not you’re on the floor.

The right candidate has strong serving experience, real wine knowledge, excellent organization, calm leadership, and a warm, ego-free approach to hospitality. WSET Level 3 or equivalent experience is a strong asset, but curiosity, palate, leadership, and generosity matter most.

This is a floor-based leadership role, approximately 4 shifts per week, including evenings and weekends, with some admin/flex time for the wine program.

Competitive compensation based on experience, plus gratuities, vacation pay, free staff meal, extended benefits for full-time employees, free counselling, and staff yoga passes.
